The CV template to rule them all

Following the overwhelming response we received from all our Job Mail Facebook fans last week it was very clear that not enough time was being invested towards CV writing. We at Job Mail appreciate your feedback and to show you all that we really do listen. It was noted by our Job Master that our recent poll showed that you were all very interested in getting a template to compile your perfect CV and cover letter. This post was created to share our preferred CV template with you.

We all know that a CV is an extension of your brand. With over 20 years of stories, how do you put all your best information into a well packaged parcel that gets your future boss or a Hiring Manager to choose you?

In the competitive job market we find ourselves being chosen over 100 other applicants and this has a lot to do with how you market your brand. Before we begin answering why a Hiring Manager should choose you? Here is a quick exercise, answer this question: ‘What are some of the reasons that make you the best candidate for the job?’ Now that you have your fuel let us get working…

Job Mail has taken the time to draft the skeleton of what your CV template should include in order for you to impress your future employer. This template will not only assist you in organising your information but this template also ensures that your details are presented in a chronological order (with your most recent experience at the top of your storyboard). It is important to grab your future boss’s attention in the first line. This is done with a cover letter.

The perfect cover letter should address your Hiring Manager by placing attention on what job you are applying for. Once you have indicated what job you are interested in, it is vital that you to state your qualifications, your name and a line saying where you found out about the position.

Hiring Managers have admitted to throwing CV’s in the bin or deleting them out of their E-mail in-boxes because they do not list their skills that are relevant to the advertised position first. Example: If you are applying for a Sales job it is imperative that you mention your sales experience before any other job experience. If you don’t have the necessary experience for the advertised position it is up to you to motivate how you are willing to learn to master that skill through training courses, workshops and even online webinars.

Now that we have given you the valuable information to draft your CV, we ask that you please download the Job Mail’s CV template at this link (in MS Word format).

If you require any further guidance, please feel free to comment on this post and we will answer any questions you may have.
