Some positions work on a rotation schedule of one week on, one week off while others require you to be on-call after hours. Instrument technician jobs may require you to deal with adverse conditions such as noisy or hot environments. Instrument Technicians must also be cautious of safety hazards and take the necessary precautions to prevent an accident. The equipment which is used for this position includes computer software as well as calculators. Voltage meters also come in handy.
