Beware of the New Fax Ploy
At Job Mail publishing we frequently inform you of the latest in scam operations. It has come to our attention that there is a new job scam that has begun making the rounds. We advise you to take the time to read this article to ensure you do not fall prey to this con.
The scam description is as follows:
A recruiter position becomes available requesting job seekers to direct their Curriculum Vitae’s to a fax number. This fax number is set up to incur charges beyond standard rates. So if you send your CV to this‘fake recruiter’, you will be charged on your telephone bill at a very high rate.
Now that you are aware of this ploy, your next question probably is, “How do I make sure that this doesn’t happen to me so that I don’t get conned in the future?”
To prevent this from happening to you we suggest you:
– Always verify your source of inquiry. This means that you need to check the telephone number given in the job advert is in operation (you can do this by making a simple call to test that the telephone line exists and when you call you can ask questions about the job on offer). When you call, if they immediately direct you to the fax line it is best to play it safe and avoid applying for this job. We ask that you please contact us at Job Mail and we will investigate this recruiter
– Check that the company is registered to operate. A simple Google search should assist in proving that this company is a legally registered company. If they don’t have a registered VAT number they are not obliged to trade in South Africa. This usually applies to work from home opportunities. For more information on illegal work from home opportunities we suggest you read this post.
– Make certain that FAX is not the ONLY means of communication. Many a time; regardless of email listing, the company does not receive calls and only directs communication to a fax number for correspondence. BE AWARE!The company should not have a problem with you emailing your CV if they are a registered recruiter/ employer. If they only have a fax number and are not willing to receive your CV via email 9 out of 10 times this fax number is set-up for the solitary purpose of a con and they get about R30.00 for every document you send.
Remember that it is safer for you as the job seeker to apply online via the Job Mail site. In using the apply button on a Job Mail verified advert you have direct access to approvedjob positions and authorised recruiters. Job Mail makes a concerted effort to ensure that our recruiters and employers are legitimate in order to be fully registered to our site.
Once you are a registered as a Job Mail user you press the apply button and recruiters/ employers get an email with your online Job Mail CV (provided your qualification matches the post they have advertised). Most Job Mail recruiters have access to our system so they can even search for CV’s when they are looking for specialised qualifications and skills. It is therefore important for you to update your skills matrix so you appear in these searches.
It is to your benefit to ensure that your online CV is constantly updated so you frequently appear in these recruiters search results. It is important to ensure your profile remains active. After three months of not using your profile on Job Mail it will subsequently deactivated. This means you will not appear in recruiters notifications when they are looking for the perfect candidate.
So remember to apply today using your online Job Mail CV and also make sure keep your account active. Job Mail is the ultimate, safe and secure employment seeking platform but you can’t get a job if you don’t apply!
If you have any details about the above mentioned fax con or any other scams on the Job Mail site, please ensure you contact the following Job Mail representative:
Contact us on 012 342 3840 (EXT: 2620) or via e-mail: verifications@jobmail.co.za
We hope this post helped you to be savvier when applying for jobs. Where there is a window of opportunity fraudsters will find innovative ways to con you. This is why you need to be aware of the latest ploys so you don’t become there next target!
Thank You from the Job Mail Team.
Thank you for making us aware of such scams. I applied for some vacancies via email and I’ve received replies requesting me to fax my CV and relevant qualifications, but I followed my instincts and didn’t fax anything. What made me suspicious is there is no company name, only a name of a recruitment agency
I feel like such a fool for falling for this ploy. I have always warned everyone else about scams and now I have fallen for the very thing which goes against all my principles. is there no legitimate decent people out there who are willing to work hard for their money like everyone else.
The scamsters who have targeted me is:
Work Services: Mary Nurbitt 086 563 7781
J O B Solutions: Lerato Radebe 086 697 5367
Alpha & Omega Recruitment: Sandy Hathaway 086 697 1188
If only I knew about this scam as I have already sent my 20 page documents through to Work Services. This is so frustrating
Thanks for sharing this details with us. Sorry to hear that you were caught by this scam. Hope you find the job that you need soon!

OMH….thank you so much for this website. I was busy preparing to get all my things in order to fax to them…same names and numbers…but i had a nagging thought – which company only accepts faxs in a modern world of technology whereby emails are much easier, faster and efficient. I am desperate for a job – but i had too many things going wrong for me in 2012 – the last thing i want is for 2013 to be a much worse year.

Thanks for sharing this info with us Sitara. Glad you did not get caught by this!
Hey thanks to my curiosity I have come across this scam warning. I received 2 emails from Lerato and 1 from Carla. Glad to get a response I didn’t even check that they were from different companies, I mean the odds of getting responses from different companies within minutes. I apply regularly and wanted to follow up which post the emails might relate to and what do you know,it’s a scam. Yes I won’t get a job but I have been saved from far worse.
Glad we can help Andile 🙂
OMG I did the same thing Carmel says,am worried now since they have all my information.
Hi Zodwa – Thanks for letting us know Blu. Please forward these person’s details to our consultant Rose via rosep@jobmail.co.za or telephonically on 012-3423840 x2620.
Hey Carmel,
I just want to thank you for publishing the above info on here. I believe in researching everyone before I send them any personal info, so when I googled Mary Nurbitt, this post came up. My wife just received several mails requesting her cv and photo, etc… And I thought something was fishy… so google is your friend. Thanks again Carmel, and sorry that you got done in by this. These people are absolute scum.
Secondly, to Jobmail, seeing that we have the details of these people, ie. fax number (The name’s are most likely fake aliases), isn’t there anything that we can do to have these people arrested for fraud or something like that. I mean, Fax numbers are traceable.
Thank you kindly,
Nic.
Hi Nic – Thanks for sharing this story with us. Glad you did not get caught by them. The best is to check with your local SAPS if it’s possible to lay charges of fraud against these people. These 086 numbers are fax to e-mail fax numbers and anyone can create one via numerous services in SA, which means they are not that easily traceable.
I have all those peoples names as well, I can mail it to you as proof. Plus I dint have enuf money to fax my cv I can only mail from my blackberry, hence me looking for a job. Thanks guys for keeping us informed about these scams.
Glad we can help Jay. Please e-mail our consultant Rose via rosep@jobmail.co.za and provide her with the full details that you have.
Since 5am today I have recieving this scam emails and I do not know how to block them can anyone help me please. Its job solution, career solution, human resources, local jobs etc. How do I stop them from landing into my inbox, help me guys
Hi Precious – Please contact our consultant Rose via rosep@jobmail.co.za or telephonically on 012-3423840 x2620 for assistance with your query
I have also received a number of these emails from:
Job Solutions
Green Door
First4Staff
Infinite Personnel Services
Career Solutions
Local Jobs
They email me and I’m surprised where did they get my email: Look this is what they are saying, “You responded to one of our advertised vacancies.” They don’t tell which vacancy, any recruiter must know that I’m applying for many Jobs, so they have to be specific and tell me their company name. That is why I wanted to find out which company is this.

I Agree Carmel, I was a sucker as well 🙁 This worries me al lot…..
We are so in need of jobs and our cents is turned over 20 thousand times. Now we have these idiots that take advantage of that.
I received this one tonight but was not previously aware of this scam. Have had so many of these e-mails and normally just delete but decided to check this one out for some reason and arrived here on this site!!!!
Dear Fiona ………..
Good day to you!
We are just following up on our previous correspondence, to ensure that you have indeed received our previous email.
In order to proceed with the application process you have to forward your application documents, which must at least include your detailed CV, proof of education and proof of previous employment to Fax: 0865636824
So if you haven’t done it yet, please send it to us as soon as possible.
A ‘quick fix’ does not form part of our thinking. Our main goal is to provide you with ‘long term’ recruitment results.
To assist in providing stability in candidates placed by us, we establish & assess retention statistics and analyse reasons why staff decide to stay or not stay with their employer. This allows us to understand the important issues and to provide our clients with necessary guidance.
Good luck with your application.

Hey Henno Kruger,
Thank you so much for your article. I’ve also received several emails for different “agents”. I’ve been actively searching for a job for the past three years now, and I had never received any emails up until this year. And I was a very suspicious as to why all of a sudden am I receive so many from different people. And when I Google for their company information nothing comes up. Fax to email is expensive, R7.00 per page. Its so frustrating cos I desperately need employment and faxing is costly.
And these people know that everyone is desperate and they play with our emotions. Some say that “application closes in 5 days”
Thank goodness I was stubborn and listened to my instincts, and thank you again for your article. It helped so many people.

We do not have a strongly branded corporate image and as a result, all our clients have to be developed and then retained purely through good service. We do not have the comfort zone of relying on the marketing of a well known / well promoted name in order to replace lost clients. This has results in fewer, key clients, and they get “five star” service.
Lol these people scared me off, they all 10+ of them all seemed so desparate for ma documents than I am for their jobs. My intincts made me not to fax them anything. iv just taken a gap year from wits, so I am very vulnerable to scams. unfortunately for them they got nada from me
I have recently been a victim of fax spam. So many “recruiters” have been asking me to fax my documentation.
I just became suspicious this morning and decided to google the fax number, I received another 5 requests again this morning.
Thank you for the information and warning.
Stunt!
Thanks for your feedback. If you encounter more, please comment on this post to spread the awareness 🙂
I feel such an idiot as I too was caught by these scammers! What happens now to all my information?
That is difficult to say as each scammer might have a different agenda. If you are concerned then report it to your local police department so that you have something on record.
Thank you very much for the info ,I was about to fax my cv but couldn’t understand why they want my photo since I’m not auditioning for anything. What got me more alert was the response I was getting from different recruiters and did not mention which post I applied for. Thanks again Job Mail.
Thank you so much for this info, I really appreciate it and will look out for the scams!!! Enjoy your day
i knew it was a scam, i used to receive those email on my gmail inbox. its just a shame that they are trying to steal from people who are really in needs. the best way to know that it is a scam, its to look at the email that the fax number was sent, and check the website , if its not a company or a job recruiting website than you know there is nothing serious about it and it is probably a scam.
A little point I wish to make.. Companies are not in fact required, as far as I know, to be VAT registered until a certain regular figure is obtained in turnover every month, so a lot of the small businesses will not in fact be VAT registered.
The amount by law that a company needs to have as an annual turnover is R1 million. It equates to a monthly turnover of R83 333. If a company has a turnover of less than this averaged over 6 months or annually, they do not, by law, have to be VAT registered – it is optional for any operating business though no matter how low the turnover. From R1 million per annum and upwards, it is the law to become VAT registered as a company.
This has just vindicated what i have been saying before. i once emailed rosep on jobmail complaining about this as i suspected it was a scam. How can a recruiter only accepts faxed cvs and mostly on these expensive fax numbers like 086….. Thanks for finally picking this, it has been on going for quite some time now.
Well thank you very much for this as I have had e-mails coming though asking me to fax again as the fax was not received with my picture and more details, yoh, this is so much helpful, thank you guys you are doing a great job
See emails I have been receiving lately. And they continue under different names….. are these part of the mentioned frauds?

@Pieter Thanks for the feedback. Worknet Solutions have been confirmed as one of these scammers. Please ignore any correspondence from them. Block them on your e-mail if you can.
Most recruiters do not use gmail as the above scammers do. i received dozens of these mails and i got tired of marking them as spam. their approach is far from being professional. even though i was desperate for work, they appeared more desperate than me. taking your time to read what these scammers send is worth it. check for disclaimer info, decent contact numbers and their website to verify their authenticity.
I was retrenched 3 years ago and could not find a job and when this job was published to fax my CV, I duly did and never got a reply. Thanks for advising the public that this is a scam. Is there any trusted ‘person’ in this modern day of ours?
I have about 5-6 guys telling me about the vacant position i had applied for. My suspicion started when the style of writting is similer the things on the text were not changed but the companies were different. there is no specific time one can’t reply on the mail only fax it insane. They are:

Hi what I want to know is where these so called fake recruitment agencies get our details. My mail box also just starte overflowing with these mails requesting my documents and at first I also did fall for this scam because I’m in need of work to provide for my fam and are struggling for 2years now to get job. But then I became Suspicious after most of them requested my documents to be send again, I started to search them on the web and the only thing that came up on most of them were scam related stories. This is one of the mails I also received a few minutes ago and after they requested my documents twice in a few minutes time I decided to search them and the link about them came up on jobmails site. I mailed them back and this is what I asked them in my mail but they did not reply at all.
Hi there no I haven’t send it yet because I have only received your request for the documents a few minutes ago. I’m very skeptic these days faxing my documents to any 086 fax number because this is a very expensive exercise and there are manny scam companies using the 086 numbers to rob job hunters and I have read a lot about these scams.
Please tel my what vacancy I applied for where it was advertised, when and what documents I have mailed you cause I can’t see why you not happy with the documents I have mailed to you. I’m unemployed at the moment and can’t afford to fax cv and certificates to all the 086 requesting documents from me. Like I said I did step in this trap before and lost lots of money faxing my documents to 086 numbers because I do have a lot of documents that goes with my cv.

Hi. How about publishing a list of all the scam fax numbers. Yes they can change them but at least we have some awareness out there of the numbers used.
Hi David. Thanks for your feedback. Yes, you have a good idea there. I will see to it that we get a post out regarding that.
Hi David. As you requested, here is a blog post where we reveal the numbers that are used in fax scams. You can follow this link https://www.jobmail.co.za/blog/an-update-on-fax-to-email-scams/
For the past week I have been receiving these job replies on a daily basis – sometimes up to five a day. This only started happening after I registered as a job seeker on a few of the online job portals: Jobvine, PRWeekJobs (UK) company and a few others I cannot recall. I have also been inundated with messages from the following people(which I have edited as they are in the same vein as those already posted)

I got and followed this link beginning of last week but didn’t reply to anyone of these “recruiters” because i just found it odd that they are names i haven’t heard of here in East London and i thought to myself, the well-known recruitment agencies here are for example Shel…; Profile…; Abantu;etc. My gut feeling just told me to ignore scammers. I’ve been googling these until i got an answer today from you guys when i googled “Sandy Hathaway of Alpha & Omega recruitment”. Thank-you and keep doing what you do. You just don’t know who to trust.

What made me feel suspicious first was the time at which all the “responses” went sent. Secondly all required that i fax my cv etc to 086 faxes. Thirdly i didn’t really make any sense to me that i should fax my photo…photos usually come out in black and white and invisible. Further, with the exception of the first one which actually corresponds with the job i had applied for, the rest do not indicate the job applied for and some do not have a contact person.
I then thought maybe i am over analyzing the mails so after work i decided to respond. However, i would first google the company before send requested documents. I got something on Recruitment Services and nothing on Green Door Solutions and Employment Services so i sent copies of my cv and certificates (7pages). Next was Alpha & Omega and thank God it led me to this Scam Alert.
Thank you so much for the alert.
Thanks for your comment, this is indeed a scam 🙂
Thank goodness for this forum. I received one of the above and, as I had been applying for so many positions, I was unsure which one this reply related to, so I googled the fax number and came upon your above discussion and did not fax anything. I have subsequently received 4 similar ones in the last three days. How do I make them stop?
I get my hopes up every time I see there is a reply to one of my applications, just to be disappointed by another scam e-mail. Thanks for saving me a lot of hassle.
Hi Rita – Glad we can help 🙂 If you find someone who is doing this, please report them to our consultant Rose via rosep@jobmail.co.za so we can investigate.

Thanks for the heads up, I received about five different email of this nature all telling me the same thing last night (like who works at that hour).
What made me suspicious is that they emailed me then told me to fax them in return. Who prefers faxing over email at this time in life, was what came to my mind? Furthermore, usually these noreply emails accounts provide a different reply email account and are normally generic correspondence(robot form writing). In this case, the correspondence was quite specifically referring to me, and even worse not pointing out the position I had applied for and also greatly lacking professional writing or even good grammar.
So started Googling the agencies to ask them for an email at which I can reach them rather, then came across this article.
Funny enough, some of these agencies don’t even show up on the internet.
Tough times, now we have to live on alert mode.
Kind Regards
Glad we could help you Nqobizwe 🙂
I sent my CV via email to AJSSolutions yesterday, and during last night (all around midnight) I received 7 emails from various “recruitment agencies”. AJSSolutions is a scam, they just sent my email address to all and sundry (I did not apply o those other agencies, only to AJSSolutions, what gives them the right to distribute my details?), even though they are the ones advertising a job.
Thanks for letting us know Bradley. Please contact our consultant Rose and give her all the details about this. You can reach her via rosep@jobmail.co.za or telephonically on 012-3423840 x2620.

The situation – in ALL sferes of life in South Africa today – is suspect! How in our Good Lords name can we trust anything anymore! These people should be ashamed – and seriously ashamed (but ofcourse such people never are) about what they are doing to peoples hopes and dreams. Unfortunately the trend in our country is that people like these will not be exposed – they are only numbers and quite definately false namers. Damn them and shame on them. Thankyou for these alerts and everbody’s warnings – everybody should READ this.

I first became suspicious wen they all started with ‘Dear Gmail’or ‘Hello Gmail’ and then I realised all of them wer written in a similar way and askin for the same things.
But not one of them contained the description of the job that they wer recruiting for.
These are sum of the mails I received:
Hello Gmail

The closing date is next Friday.

Good day Sir/Madam,
I’m JOHN by name, my BB pin is 293F1ADE, living and residing in Cape Town.
I’m a Job hunter, who lives and resides in Cape Town, a Bachelor Degree Graduate, from a recognized University.
I’ve applied more Vacancies in several places, but the problem is that, since the past Days, I’ve been receiving Email respond many of them saying I should Fax documents and all other Docs, to be sincere with you, i don’t have any money with me to fax, I’ve just quickly sell my Phones and iron, so that i can get money for all the Faxing.
However, i Faxed all the Documents to them, like 6 different Recruiters, not knowing that they are scammers.
They totally run my life to Death, to sell my phones, and my iron, even borrow money again from my Landlady to make it complete, at the end of all, they are Scammers.
I’m in Sadness and Sorrowful since, bcos I’ve loosed many things, it was one of my Friend that just sent me another BB that I’m using now, so that I can be assessing my Emails and other thing.
Some of the names of these Scammers are:

Thanks for letting us know about this Yolani. Please report them to our consultant Rose via rosep@jobmail.co.za as well.
HI there
Well I got scammed too – what can we do about these people?
Surely there is a way to track the fax numbers they are using?
Its also sickening that websites are allowing these to be placed on the internet without the proper security check-ups.
Solutions are needed for job seekers – its disgusting that the people that need the jobs are the ones that get scammed – their finances are already stressed and stretched to maximum.
So – what is the solution?
Hi Ros – Thanks for your feedback. You ask some really relevant questions. You could make the SAPS aware of this, if they are not aware of this already. If you find any of these people its also best to report them to the website where the advert(s) are being placed. You can report the scammer(s) that you’ve encountered on Job Mail to our consultant Rose via rosep@jobmail.co.za or telephonically on 012-3423840 x2620.
Almost had me!

Thank Goodness for this website I almost faxed my everything to Sandy Hathaway!! I’m so desperate for a job in a way that I can take anything without even checking! Still shocked, I can’t believe I almost lost so much money! Thanks a lot to the website. Big ups!!
Hi Sanda – Glad that we can help. Make sure that you report any other scammers you encounter to our consultant Rose via rosep@jobmail.co.za
A few more names from whom I have gotten requests for information following job applications are as follows:
Syringa Automotive Recruitment Services – Monique
Go-Direct Recruitment Services – no name given
Progressive Job Solutions – Susan Dreyer
Prime Appointments –
South Recruiters – no name given
Universe Appointments – The Recruitment Team
Jobsearch Direct – no name given
SA Employment Services – Marinda
African Pride Services – Thelma Rose
I am taking it for granted that these are also scammers because they also give 086 fax nos. and no reply e-mail addresses. Also, I want to ask whether http://www.jobspace.co.za is a legitemate employment seeker website. Is the scam only to get the extra money from the price of sending the fax or is there other reasons for the scam?
Hi Rachel – Thanks for letting us know about these folks. The best way to confirm if the website in question is a scam or not is to contact our consultant Rose. You can reach her via rosep@jobmail.co.za or telephonically on 012-3423840 x2620. She’ll be able to check, investigate and confirm.
These are the emails I receive almost everyday from same people ever since I started looking 4 a job

Dear Applicant
To formally apply for the position you are interested in, please send an intro-letter clearly stating the vacancy you are applying for, to fax: 0865616410
Please also attached the following documents to your introduction letter.
1) Detailed full CV
2) Reference letters and documents confirming your education.
3) Head and shoulders photo.
We sometimes receive hundreds of applications per vacancy, and therefore it is practically only possible to correspond with applicants that are chosen as shortlist candidates.
So if you do not get a response from us within 15 business days, after sending your fax, please assume that your application was unfortunately not successfull this time.
However please feel welcome to apply for as many vacancies, as you may want to.
We wish you a pleasant day and hope that you will find your ideal position, very soon.

These people have some nerve. when does the emails stop!!! How do I block them?
Thanks for sharing this info with our users Louise 🙂
Got the same thing from all of the names mentioned. It’s very disheartening though as one is desperate for an income in these trying times. Just hoping that not all my applications went to scam recruiters.

Thanks for sharing this information Simone. Please forward this info to our consultant Rose via rosep@jobmail.co.za.
Since applying for a job through Jobmail, I have received 21 similar mails in a matter of days. It is now getting to a point where I will have to close my e-mail address and get a new one.
All are the same (just using different names and fax numbers) and want all documents faxed to them. Luckily the first 7 game at the same time which made me suspicious and I did not respond.
Thanks for sharing Cobus. Don’t get caught by these guys!
I’m really afraid….I applied for a job which is definitely scam but now they have my CV with a Photo, my adress and anything else. They sent me those “Fax CV to us” Mails as well after that but it doesn’t change the fact that they already got my Details via a PDF as I applied for the Job. Do I have to assume now to be in big Trouble or is it just that they will sent me further spam?
Do they want just to make money through those faxes or do they now sell all my Personal Information that I could get in Real Trouble?
Thanks,
Lilly
Hey Lily – Some sell it, others only make use of the fax number to make money. Contact Rose via rosep@jobmail.co.za. She may be able to give you more information.

Thanks for sharing Kella 🙂
My question is why haven’t these fake agents been blocked from sending out emails on the Jobmail website? You guys know who they are but yet they are still operational. What’s the point of reporting them if they are still operating with impunity?
They are changing their e-mail addresses regularly when they respond to users, which makes it hard for us to track them and is the reason you need to report them to us.

Looking for a jobs online is no longer fun but leaves one feeling disheartened in what others are doing.
After spending hours applying for jobs and upon recieving email responses, I decided to embark on a little research as to the best way to respond and apply to the emails received to maximise my time and effort.
Fortunately my supiscous mind, decided to check the fax numbers because I was frustrated that this was the only way I was being allowed to respond, I then decided to check the fax numbers using google to identifiy the company or recruitment name.
This little exercise was implemented due to the fact I could not figure which advert I had applied to and was trying to link it with the email responses.
Upon doing this I ended up with this website https://www.jobmail.co.za/blog/beware-of-the-new-fax-ploy/ telling that I am being scammed.
Thank your for publishing this horrible activity for all of us to hopefully avoid being effected in future.
So sad that people have to do this to others.
Lesson learnt – always check and let your instinct lead you to hopefully to avoiding being scammed.
Glad we can help Susan 🙂
Beware of these numbers still operating this dispicable scam. Thank goodness I did not send anything before checking them out on google. I think that they are also using legit consultancy names which makes it so much harder for the jobseeker to distinguish between a scam and legit agencies.

Hi thanks for the tip. I was about to respond to one from Central Personnel Solutions but they also asked for a covering letter. Fortunately I keep a printout of the job advert so I can tailor my letter to suit the advert and I noticed it was a different company to the one on the ad and I Googled them and fortunately found your website. If they have all your personal info, is this not possibly where they are getting the info for Identity Fraud !!!
I cannot believe that I also fell for this scams. I faxed my cv to 5 different fax numbers on the 10 September 2013 but then I got cautious when I check my emails again on the 11 September in the morning I still have more 5 fax numbers to send again then I ran to google this Lerato to my surprise I came across that she / he is a scam. than you for warning us, but I was one of the victims
So these scamming nutjobs have my CV with all my details and stuff… Should I be worried?
They can’t do much with the CV, but they might be able to do something with an ID number, report them to the SAPS if you can
As soon as something fishy or weird is happening I will. And since Ive emailed my cv alot of agencies want me to fax my cv. But thanks for the info it really helped.
Hi Henno. Purely co-incidental my stumbling across your article – actually when I Googled the fake recruitment agency, this article came up and I clicked! One of the best decisions I have ever made online! I wish to advise others out there that I receive emails from “Best Jobs South Africa” and the “recruitment agencies” that are listed on the ads on their website – when you click the link from the email to the ad – they are ALL bogus. I wont list them because they are one and the very same of those listed above by everyone else. Lets keep adding the company names, fax numbers and persons’ names, so that it comes up as the No. 1 result on search engines!
Thanks Mr Singh 🙂

This is amazing and so sad to see us falling into traps like this. They will never succeed as they are heaping curses upon themselves. I sent one and honestly, I became so lazy to continue with the rest.
The question is: how do they get hold of my details because indeed I applied for lot of positions and in few hours my system is flooded with their requests to send documentations, is there a way I can blog them?
These below is what I received between Monday and Sunday:
It is Melanie from Personnel Options here!
Hope you are having a fabulous day.
I’m writing in response to your mail regarding the advertised vacancy.
The position is not yet filled and we are currently in the process of accepting applications.
The closing date for this application is precisely 1 week from today, so if you want to apply you need to do so immediately.
The following information is needed:
• A one page concise cover letter;
• Your curriculum vitae;
• A photo of yourself;
• Additional information and documents, if available, to support your application.
Just a bit of advice: Try to make your CV and documents unique so that it stands out from the rest.
Remember recruiters some days receive hundreds of applications, and if yours are one of the ordinary ones, it is unlikely that it will jump to the top of the application heap.
Please make some effort now to send your info immediately to us, at fax: 0866982821

OMG I am so worried right now, what will they do with our information? I have also fallen for this trap, i got an email today from Personnel Partners and Jobyard. I faxed to both numbers. Does anyone know what will they do to our information other than charging our telephone bill at a higher rate? How will they charge it? Is it when you are in a contract or? Will you be able to give me more information on what they do?
Kind regards,
Sanda
I also noticed the scam on my e-mail. These are the names of the hiring companies and the associated fax numbers

When I received e-mails from these two bogus companies I proceeded to check them on the internet and I could not find them however the only thing that I found was the number for jobmail that would help me to deal with such a scam. I called Rose on her extension and she helped me. When I sent a blank mail to their number I got a response that was the same as the one I received in the first place indicating that it was a scam. These people fool around with our lives. That’s an applling situation.WHATSOEVER A MAN PLANTS THAT HE WILL ALSO REAP.

Thanks for sharing Preston 🙂
The CEO of the company I work for, connect2learning, is named Sandra Herbst. One of the scammers, Infinite Personnel Services, signs their letter with the name, Sandra Herbst 0862267565.
The recipients of these letters do an online search for her so that they can email the requested info instead of faxing it. The most prominent search results return the Sandra Herbst of connect2learning, for whom I work. The job seekers then send their CVs etcetera (even photos) to this Sandra. This is a terrible problem for her as she is receiving floods of emails from these poor people. We are trying all we can to stop the problem but it is very hard!
If you receive an email from this source, PLEASE don’t search for Sandra online and send her your particulars! Infinite Personnel Services does not exist, nor is there a person by that name who wants your CV!
Once bitten Twice shy! I am embarrassed to say I too fell for it!
just faxed mine to four of them and googled after to check their legitimacy…damn!!
hey please assist me in checking the eligibility of this company Gaxton recruitment Agency they even have a website but it looks dodgy fax number is 086 247 3508.

OOOOH My God!!!!! I am busy applying for jobs, and I got so excited when I got these responses… Me and my fiancé were so relieved cause we thought we will get jobs asap when we get to Cape Town… Thank God I googled these so called employment agencies… I am so pissed off though!!!
Just saw this site now ,I already sent my personal information.I wish I could have googled them earlier.Hope they dont do anything with my documents.
I got very suspicious when I started getting E-MAILS requesting me to fax to what looking like FAX-TO-EMAIL numbers, especially when they where asking for photos. Photos are more often than not, useless when received by fax.
If these companies obviously have computers with internet and email, why on earth would they request faxes? Why do they not give an e-mail address as an option?
I then decided to Google a couple of the numbers and ended up here.
Here is a list of the e-mails I have received so far:
0866975367 JOB SOLUTIONS LERATO RADEBE
0862269024 WORKPRO
0862269649 MYJOB
0862280698 STAFFWORKS CHANEL VAN SCHOOR
0862268033 CAREERJOBS
Some of the numbers are so close that it looks like the same person requested them on the same day from the free fax-to-email site.
I just received another email
0866982821 PERSONNEL OPTIONS MELANIE B
I’m glad i didin’t fall for this scam. I got more than 10 emails requesting me to send my particulars, including my photo, which made me get suspicious. I then googled all of these companies and non of them exist in south Africa. I wish they’d get caught and pay for what they are doing!!!!!
Thanx for this info, I was ready to send my documents. But something inside me said, who ask for a photo to be send via fax, come one. Then I decided to google them voilla, they are scams.
Hi,
Thank you so much for posting this.
I am in the job market at the moment and have been receiving a lot of these responses asking for my cv to be sent via fax and yet there are no other contact details on the email which made me suspicious and so I decided to look it up and found this article.
I will now spam those address and hopefully they will be removed for their ISP servers.
Good day Rene Pritchard

Same thing happened to me – five emails per day from different ‘recruitment’ agencies with the same format and only a fax number. So I investigated and thankfully discovered it was a scam via this blog before submitting anything to them.

Now I always go through details and if the job post looks unconvincing I dont apply.
Thank you again.
I’M so afraid that i have applied to about 7 of them and i became suspicious after faxing because i rembered that i had emailed to 3 companies but i received more than 3 emails asking me to forward my cv. even now i hv received another email and to all of you who have not applied please dont do it and thanx to jobmail i will never ever apply by fax again.

These are all scams. The warning bell should be 1) fax details and 2) if you did not apply for a position.
I also received numerous emails from these companies but I knew from the moment they asked for my cv that something is wrong because when I applied I applied with my cv so why do they need it again and yes it is sad that they prey on the vulnerable and I hope that they will get caught because it is so unfair towards us
Hi
Yesterday I received an email that said that I applied for a ‘vacancy’ that I must send a cover letter, full CV, photo, proof of qualifications and work history. I deleted the e-mail because I was not interested and didn’t think much of it. Now, this morning I received two e-mails from two different ‘companies’ with more or less the same wording. What the hell?? How do I get these people to stop sending me these stupid scam e-mails?

Hi Guys
I’ve just fallen prey to this scam, last week i send my 11pages of documents required by the scammers to 10 different 086 numbers, it cost me roughly R800 at my local postnet. Yesterday and today i recieved about 7 new document request, i decided to google this companies, and linked-in personalities and the findings were not corresponding. Through my googling i bumped into this page.
I knew something was not right, yes i have been applying but so many responses and yet they couldn’t stipulate which position ive applied for. I’ll attach this to my FB wall.
It is very frustrating that when we look for jobs, they want so many documents, reference letter, photos, etc and we run around getting it all together.
I received the Following emails

I did send one application through and it was 20 pages, I just hope the bill is not too high, or I am going to be in alot of trouble.
Thank you so much for this article. I see that it was published in 2011 and yet, almost 3 years later, theses scammers are still operating (I am currently receiving these mails a few times a day, I just delete them). It’s also sad to see how many people fall prey to this. Everybody out there should read Christopher Hadnagy’s Social Engineering and protect yourselves from these sorts of ploys. I understand that most of us are desperate to find a job (I’m in the same situation) but learn to trust your instincts and google the companies beforehand. I’ve learned not to trust anyone and so I google all companies before sending any personal information. These people could also be using documents for identity theft. So people, just beware and please try to protect yourself.
For some apparant reason I just tend to ignore these type of emails that tell you to fax things, because all the jobs that I’ve been working in for all of these years I’ve never had to fax any documents to anyone and I got these jobs form Recruitment Agencies (who are legit) and I’ve never ever had to fax anything at all, once my CV is emailed to them they are the ones who call to arrange an interview and so on. All this faxing debacle is just a pure scam so please don’t fall for it.
You know I started faxing my husbands CV’s from Friday last week and today I got the same email, then that’s when i started to search for these companies and I came across this.. I am so heartbroken because you use your last money for bread and hoping something will come up. Anyways life goes on and hope all these people don’t sleep at night. Thanks for the look-out.
Hi guys,
I hope you are well!
I am so grateful hat I found this site, I have applied for some many positions and thought it was a bit odd if I had to fax all my details through if they had emailed me to ask!
Thanks so much for this form, otherwise I would have been another victim.
I will forward all the details I’ve received to Rose!
Once again thank you !
Good luck to all the job seekers
Wow, these
People really think people are stupid but again when your desperate you can be fooled easily. But thank you very much I looked on this. Its sunday but I already received 5 of them. Come to think about it who is working on sunday at around 3 afternoon.
I can’t believe that people are taking advantage like this & there is no recourse. How often are unemployed individuals victim to this scam and end up spending their last bit of money on sending faxes. I hope these scammers will get their fair share of karma
Really cruel to take advantage of us jobseekers
Thank you everybody for your insites and information
I didnt fax anything….but I was about to.
Thank you so much to the JobMail team for making us aware of this menace!!!!
These are some of the Red Flags I picked up on:
1) All e-mails follow the same lay-out and format: Name, Ref letters, Cover letter, Photo, Supporting Docs.
2) e-mails sent at strange hours e.g. just after mid-night, 2 a.m., etc. when recruitment agencies are closed!!!!
3) No contact telephone number to contact the recruiter.
4) They state that they will get back to you in 2 to 3 weeks…… WHAT!!!!!
5) They use a 086 number, which is a mail-to-fax number, so you cannot phone to it.
What worries me more than the potential cost of sending to these fake numbers is the fact that these people now have loads of your private information, bar I.D. and bank details. How easy is it for them to now use your details to commit fraud in your name!!!!!!!!
Here are some more names and numbers to add to your list:

Thanks for sharing Jake
I have been recieving these emails for weeks now…luckily i read about the top scams few weeks ago that said fax numbers that begins with 086 are most likely to be scams…and so i dd not reply to any if them…if inly tgere was a way of blocking all scams from sending us these emails…
I have also been subject to this scam, perpetrated by many of the same parties listed above. It seems that to be successful these degenerates have to ensure a large turnover, therefore they are very prolific.
Many of the e-mails I receive are unsolicited and not from any “agency” that I have responded to in the past. They state that the vacancy is still open, but nowhere mention what the vacancy is. Often they copy and paste legitimate sounding information from credible recruitment agencies to appear above board.
The greatest logic flaw to me is that the 086 numbers listed are fax to email numbers, therefore if you send a fax to that number it is converted to digital format (pdf) and forwarded to an e-mail address. Receipt of their e-mail evidences that I have an e-mail access and their sending of e-mail confirms the same on their side. Therefore it would be illogical to say that they cannot accept CV’s by e-mail. Their only motive is profiting from the premium fax revenue.
Furthermore they will often request a SMS be sent to a premium code. This can cost between R1 and R30, depending on the code. Your information will then be sold to a variety of databases. Identity fraud is also very possible if they acquire the relevant personal detail and a copy of your ID.
Be vigilant, often there will be a lapse of time before they start using your details in order that you do not make an immediate connection.
These scams are multi-layered and feed off each other for maximum profit. You may find yourself blacklisted in a few months as a scammer has opened an account in your name and bought goods or services that they do not intend to pay for. You may also find yourself targeted by 419 scammers.
Unfortunately this is a minefield that we must tread warily. it would be great if we could have reverse number checks in South Africa, so we could trace who the owners of these numbers are. I suspect that the same names would keep coming up and that 419 scammers have diversified into this area, as few people are falling for the old classic scams.
Don’t feel bad if you have fallen for this, you are not alone. It is a lesson learned in the university of life that will serve you well in the future!.
Thanks for the information, but how do we now search how genuine is the agency?
Hi Karabo – You can confirm with our consultant Rose via rosep@jobmail.co.za
I have also recently received a few of these scam emails. It is only since I registered on Job Mail that I have been targeted by these scammers.

Thanx for this article!!!!!
I have just reported same poster on Gumtree – the minute I saw she gave a vague email address to respond to, and listing a very lucrative job offer, I asked for more info about the company involved, their website and a landline. I immediately received an email from OLGA NOWERS, sending email from a no-reply inbox, asking me to fax my CV, ID, picture, etc to an 086-fax number.
Not only may this lead to identity theft, but this scammer may also generate a nice income for her by all the faxes sent to that 086-number.
Job seekers – do not send your info before you have responded to the poster and asked for an email address / contact details, etc to ensure that you aren’t dealing with a scammer.
And remember to REPORT such poster to OLX, Gumtree or wherever you found the job ad.
Rather be safe than sorry.
I have ever since received emails on a daily basis from the following fake Recruiters, which have two things in common – you can’t reply to them, because they use a no-reply address. They only provide you with an 086- fax number, no contact number, website or legit company name.

These are not the names that they post jobs under on Job Platforms, e.g. Gumtree, OLX, Indeed, etc. They use a free email address, or let job seekers apply via the link on Gumtree or OLX.
Once you respond, they have your email address and then the spamming begins. The more pages of info they receive on their 086 fax number, the more money they generate for themselves.
They keep ons chanching their fax numbers and their fake recruiter names – so please be careful not to fax to them, if they cannot give you an email address, website or contact number.
I have received the same emails from

I was wondering why all of a sudden I am so popular.
I know the feeling Sifiso I m job hunting as well and ve also received emails from the very same people as well as Orbit Solutions.
The fact that they did not state which position I had applied for just got me curious.
Thank you very much Admin and all who have shared here.I was just about to send a whole lot of faxes, when I decided to Google one of the Companies and landed up here. You have just saved me from these scammers.
The companies and fax numbers listed above are the same ones,I got like 15 Emails in 3 days.
Lets continue to spread the word so these scammers dont get away with this.
Thank you very much Admin. I have already fax to ten numbers. I hope they don’t do anything with our documents. It will be much better if they only charge us too much money for fax.#praying#
Thank you to all the people who posted, i had received about 20 responses from the same companies most of you have mentioned but because i dont have the finance to fax all of them, i was trying to google them to find out if i could email my docs instea. My search for 1 of the companies ended up leading to this site, its hard to believe that people out there can be so wrong. Reading your comments has shocked me cause some you were even given the same reference numbers i was given. Thank you to all

Funny how all these fax numbers start with 08622… and how they all want the exact some thing:
Cover letter, CV, Head and Shoulders Photo, reference letters and certificates.
Hey everyone, I hope all are well and blessed – despite the obvious fraud in our country.
Here’s my opinion:
I think all PC to faxnrs, should be RICA’d like all cell nrs – to minimise fraud. Because it is not, it is open to all sorts of criminal activity. Unfortunately e-mail accounts are so easy to open and there is NO control whatsoever.
Domain names are being used that are not yet purchased, so controlling that is also very difficult.
So it really is up to JobMail to ensure the security of users.
I really think JobMail should up the quality of ads placed on their site (are ads being paid for and if not, why not?) And if ads are being paid for, they have to be authenticated and the “agency”/advertisers has to be authenticated too.
Failing to do so, is allowing fraudulent activity and false advertising on their site and I am going to lodge a complaint with ASASA regarding this.
Too many people do not see this warning, so it is insufficient and to my opinion, not enough is being done to avoid this.
Give us the assurance that an effort will be made from your side or close the site. Because if all that IS on your site, is fraudulent, then what is the point of it existing? EVERY SINGLE position that I applied for, responded with a fax only number and that got me searching for answers. That means 100% of the ads on your site, are fake …………?
Please JobMail, don’t let already suffering citizens suffer even more.
Regards,
Ruth Knox-MacBride
Please beware!!
Currently on Gumtree, under ”banking jobs”, these exact same Agencies are posting ads about recruiting banking staff for leading Banks across the country. I replied to these by asking them a question. They never answered it, and immediately assumed I’m applying for the job
Fortunately for me, I quickly sniffed out these scams. Almost sent my CV.

I was a scammed by a so called Outsourcing Company called Emphasis sales & marketing. Its situated in a dodgy part of Joburg CBD. Even recently I applied for a vacancy posted on Gumtree but that was a scam too. Thank you for the alert.
Oh God, thank you, iv received more than 3 from different ppl, eg: orbit staff, evergreen solutions and Olga nowers job out sourcing, I became suspicious coz they never mention the position you have applied for, they only say “this position” and how do legal companies respond to your application form I need to be aware plz
Hi Mpumza – Legal companies refer to the actual position and they don’t ask you money. If you are unsure if someone is running a scam, e-mail our consultant Rose via rosep@jobmail.co.za
Hi,
Thanks so much for this info, I was almost a victim myself.
Got 10 emails with this scams, from various sites such as indeed.com, jobmail, linked-in, etc.
The scams was from the following:
Job Partner Solutions fax 0862268547
Alpha and Omega Personnel fax 0862280292
MyJob fax 0862269649
Infinite Personnel Services fax 0862267565
Workforce business solutions fax 0862280722
Orbit staff fax 0862269340
Alpha consulting services fax 0865946263
Speedy HR Solutions fax 0862267194
Evergreen solutions fax 0862269148
Progressive solutions fax 0865921921

You’ll note that most of these numbers begin exactly the same.
We have searched for every company online and although some of them do exist, they are based in other countries, not in SA.
Hope this helps.
I unfortunately was a victim and faxed my documentation. I received emails from the very same places and just this morning received this one:

I’m writing in response to your mail regarding the advertised vacancy.

New Horizon Professionals
In a 6 hour period I received three emails from a agency called, Infinite Personnel Agency (0862267565) and another two in a 4 hour period from Personnel Agency Services(0865920168).
These emails were also sent between 2am and 6am in one day, which was odd in my opinion.
I googled these names and found this article. I am glad I did, you can never be too sure nowadays.
Glad we can help Jessica
Hi
Well, this scam is alive and well. I received an email from Melanie B at Personnel Options. I did not send any info through as I found it strange that the recruiter didn’t mention which job I had applied for. I then googled the Agency and found this article.
I hope that no one else falls prey to this scam- these fraudsters will suffer for trying to take advantage of desperate people…..
I am also receiving these emails. How do I block it?
Hi Dalean – There isn’t really a way, maybe just flag them as spam on your Gmail account.
@ Henno Kruger
Thanks guys for such a great job and awareness.I i have forwarded you an email with scam from workpro.net
I am also targeted. I have received about three emails from the below:
Joost Rivoli – PERSONNEL PARTNERS
Sandra Herbst – INFINITE PERSONNEL SERVICES
Kailyn Cook – Workmaster Recruiting
Please help I want to block them.
E-mail our consultant Rose via rosep@jobmail.co.za
This looks much like the previous comments. I will rather not send them anything. Strangely I don’t recall a previous email from Kailyn Cook?

I am so upset, I have sent all my details to all of these people listed….. It’s so frustrating and so sick to know that people do this
Hi,I also receive emails from a company named Recruitment Services that is requiring that I fax my details to them via 086 225 0233..are they legit? Please email me via mantelinkie@gmail.com
I got an email this morning, thank God i am seeing this now. It was from Joost Rivoli of Personnel Partners requested my photo, CV, Reference letters and a Cover letter. How would one know if something is real net time so that one does not fall under this trap?
Oh my word, I feel so sick right now, i received close to 10 of these emails from these “recruiters” yesterday alone, I faxed to two of them before thinking of checking them out, I’m glad I did but now all sorts of crazy thoughts are running through my head. I sent my CV and qualifications but no ID copy (thank God), but i’m still panicking.
Hi Renee,
You are going to start to get a lot of “private number”, unknown number calls or numbers you do not know on your cell phone in the next few days/weeks – you can ignore all of them, unless you need to buy any of the rubbish they are offering.
Below are some of the fax numbers I’ve received:
086 695 7869 (Kailyn Cook, Workmaster Recruiting)
086 592 0168 (Hans Uterich, Personnel Agency Services)
086 226 7565 (Sandra Herbst, Infinite Personnel Services)
086 229 2138 (Gail H, Careerjob)
086 228 9927 (Application Department, Golden Opportunities)
086 229 2007 (Vanechia Reddy, Career Essentials)
086 226 9148 (Application Department, Evergreen Solutions)
086 228 5871 (J Basson, United HR Solutions)
I think is very difficult to get rid of such companies , the best option is to google the company first and see if there is any info about them on the net, if not i suggest you stay away.
Thanks to you I got the same emails about 6 of the them saying I must fax my documents immediately, I was so happy that I got a job. What helped is I don’t like faxes because is expensive so first I decide to Google these companies first then on search I found this website helped me a lot, when I am counting the documents that I have to fax it about R180 and I did not have such money for the fax only. But now I’m releaved on stressing about the amount that I was gonna throw away on scams.
The emails i have received the same day are as follows
•Career 4 me fax CV photo cover letter on 0866978767
•Career essentials fax ID, CV,photo, cover letter on 0862292007
•Personnel spot by Tommy James fax CV,photo, cover letter on 0862285472
•Career jobs fax cover letter, ID copy, CV on 0862292138
•Personnel partners by Joost Rivoli fax CV ,cover letter, photo ,reference letter on 0865632880
•Golden opportunities fax ID, CV,photo, cover letter on 0862289927
If everyone can search before sending documents to any company to make sure its really
Thanks a lot
This is just so cruel, you are really seriously looking for another job because of difficult financial and personal circumstances and then these vultures start to hover. Most of these “recruiters” want your info so that their telemarketers can harass you endlessly to buy insurance or anything else that you do not want or need.
After months of unsuccessful job hunting I received 3 emails in the past two days from :
Careerjob – Gail H. Fax: 0862292138
Career Essentials – Vanechia Reddy. Fax : 0862292007
Personnel Spot – Tammy (T James). Fax: 0862285472
Thankfully, I never sent anything because having submitted countless applications through numerous channels over the months, I wanted to know exactly which position they need the info for and through which online channel my alleged application was submitted.
However, all the emails are ‘no-reply@…” etc.
Thanks for sharing Yvette
Wish I saw this post much earlier. I’ve sent my CV to five places already. I am in such a need of finding a different job that I literally jumped at the opportunity. I started getting a bit more uneasy when the person I sent my CV to told me that they are still waiting for my information. I have no blocked their mails.
The following people requested my information:
– Job Opportunities
– Career4me
– United HR Solutions
– Personnel Agency Services
– Personnel Spot
– CareerJob (this one had me questioning it immediately).
Is there no way to stop these people making job-seekers a victim? I originally thought it was odd that they were requesting faxes and not emails. Should have trusted my instincts.
good afternoon
i would just like to know who exactly is giving the email addresses to these people? which sites are the ones that a job seeker should be avoiding?
i have received 14 of these emails in the last two days, is there some way of finding out where exactly they get a persons email address from so that a person can rather boikot that site instead?
below is a list of the places that have emailed me in the last two days
Career essentials(twice)
Career job
Golden opportunities(twice)
Infinite personnel services(twice)
Personnel agency services(twice)
Personnel Partners
personnel spot
Rand Recruitment
United hr solutions
workmaster recruiting.
i need to deregister where ever they are giving my email address out, since they are currently spamming my inbox.
thanks
I was about to send when I felt like googling the authenticity of these companiesz: career essentials – Vanechia Reddy
personnel sport – Tammy James
Hi Sikile,
Its great that you are vigilant. We cannot verify nor discredit any of these companies on our wn personal basis but its a good idea to check them out before you apply. Make sure they are indeed legitimate businesses. Please be aware that we do go to great lengths to proof the adverts on our site and check the authenticity of the people putting the adverts up. Better be safe than sorry and do some investigation on your part as well.
these scams are till going ahead 2016 still.
i have recieved a whole lot of them from all these agencies above.
is there no way to track these faxnumbers and remove these scammers?
WHAT are they doing with our personal informaiton?????????
Thank you for the warning. I have received numerous replies from these agencies and could not find any email addresses or telephone numbers which made me a bit suspicious. Herewith the following:
Personnel partners – : 0865632880
Career essentials – 0862292007
career4me – 0866978767
Careerjob – 0862292138
Personnel spot – 0862285472
This is so demotivating especially when it seems after a struggle you receive a response and think you have a chance at a vacancy.
