6 Daily Habits Every Business Manager Should Make Time For
Did you know that what you do daily can have a huge impact on how productive and happy you are in life? If you feel like your career success, the quality of your family time, and the quality of your life in general has somewhat decreased because you are just waltzing through life without being purposeful in choosing your daily activities, then you should consider re-evaluating the daily habits you incorporate into your everyday lifestyle.
Being a business manager is demanding and can become stressful if you do not know how to manage and control your daily habits. But even if this is something you struggle with, it does not mean that you have to give up on your chances of success. If you can make time for these six daily habits, you can improve the quality of multiple aspects of your life:
1. Set out your priorities before the time:
Preparation is the key to success, especially when you are a manager. So make it a habit to start your day by making a list of all the things you would like to do for the day, and then highlighting the most important things on that list. If you do not know which things to highlight on the list, ask yourself this question:“If I were to fall sick and have to take off from work for a week, which of these tasks should be completed?” Once you have your important tasks highlighted, you will know how to start your day.
Motivational About talks about prioritising tasks and not steering away from the task at hand until it is complete. They say:
All success in life comes from project completion and living a life of good habits will help you complete more projects.
2. Find a morning routine that works for you:
You will be amazed to learn just how much following a morning routine can increase your productivity throughout the day. Leo Babauta of Zen Habits tells Buffer App how he uses his morning routine to start his day in the best possible way. He says,
…not only does it instil a sense of purpose, peace and ritual to my day, but it ensures that I’m getting certain things done every morning … namely, my goals.
3. Adopt a positive attitude when you wake up:
Adopting a positive attitude when you wake up is the best way to start the day. This way, you will overcome all obstacles and struggles in a calm and stress-free manner. Your attitude is infectious, so try to be mindful of your attitude towards yourself and others.
4. Take a breather:
Sometime during your day, allow your mind to switch off and recharge for a bit, even if it’s just for 30 minutes. Your mind also needs some recovery time after you have completed some of your tasks for the day.
5. Spend time with people whose skills complement your own:
CEO of Corvisa, Matt Lautz, tells Inc.com that being a manager means you sometimes feel like you have to know everything, but that just isn’t possible, which is why it’s important to know what your strengths are – and then to rely on other talented people for the rest. So try to spend some time every day with people who will not only complement your own skills, but who will also bring out the best in you.
6. Learn something new:
Learning adds to our happiness and has a huge impact on our daily lives. Not only does learning help us to grow and mature, but it also allows us to gain an understanding of the world and the people around us, which is important when managing a business. Whether you read online material or magazines, or listen to tutorials in the car or at work, you should make it a habit to learn something new every day. As a manager, it is important that you stay ahead of the market trends in the industry, so make a point of spending 15- 30 minutes each day reading and learning something new.
You can start this habit by registering for a business management course at Oxbridge Academy, which you can study on a part-time basis from home. Already qualified and looking for employment? Browse through the latest jobs on Job Mail and find your dream job today.
