3 useful tips for successfully running your company’s Facebook page
So, you have decided to embrace the digital age: your company / business finally has a Facebook page. So, now what? It’s easy to create a Facebook fan page, but there are a few things that you should know about successfully running it. So, today I’m providing you with 3 useful tips for successfully running your company’s Facebook page.
Tip 1: Make your customers and the world out there aware of your Facebook page:
It’s great to have a Facebook page, but it’s not so great if no-one knows about it. Get the word out by putting links to your Facebook page on your employees e-mail signatures. Share the page link with your Facebook friends and get all your employees to do so. Send out an e-mail to your customer database and let them know that you have a Facebook page. Put a visible link to your Facebook page on your company website. Put a poster in your office reception area encourage walk-in clients to find you on Facebook. If you have money available in your advertising budget, you also have the option to advertise your page on Facebook to get more fans.
Tip 2: Think of your company’s Facebook page as a communication channel for your clients / customers:
You might not have thought about it this way, but yes, a Facebook page is definitely a digital communication line between you and your customers / clients. It’s a great way to see what people are saying and thinking about your business. Expect happy and unhappy customers / clients to post messages on your page’s wall and to send you messages in your page’s Inbox. If your page has less than 1000 fans, make sure that you check your page at least twice a day for messages / wall posts from customers / clients. As your page’s fans grow you may want to check it more frequently. Some huge companies have up to 10 people monitoring their Facebook page daily.
Tip 3: Familiarize yourself with the ways that you can interact on your Facebook page:
There are a number of ways that you can interact with your Facebook fan base. You can post an image or video, text or a link when you update your page’s status. It depends on the kind of business that you have but posting images or videos may attract more attention and get more interaction from users than posting links or text.
To find out which updates work the best, post different kinds of statuses and stick to the ones that get the most interaction (likes, shares and comments). Click on the “Inisights” tab on the top of your page to see what works and what doesn’t work. Remember that social media is all about two-way communication, so don’t post too many messages that market your company’s services or specials – some fans will most likely choose NOT to interact with you or even unlike your page.
Interacting with your Facebook fans is important. Low or no interaction could result in a low Edgerank score for your page. If this happens, the majority of fans might not see your updates in their Facebook Newsfeed. This is very important for free (or organic) interaction on your page. If you do have an advertising budget available, boost your updates by paying Facebook a nominal fee. Facebook offers many options for targeting boosted updates to the right audience (age group, region, gender, etc).
